Best dumplings I've ever had in my life. Something about that sour cream + vinegar combo. The cabbage rolls and chicken kiev were great, too. Parking can be a pain in that area and if you don't want to circle the block for hours looking for free street parking, it's $5 to park in the lot next door. Our server was kind of impatient and, at times, it was off-putting.

Great service and great atmosphere to enjoy authentic Russian food! They have no shortage of vodka options as well!

We came in for a midafternoon bite and a tipple. The drinks and beers were so satisfying. They have a lot of Russian themed cocktails or takes on classics. The food runs from something for any American to things only a Russian or Northern European could want. Yes, I have the herring and a side of cabbage. We had their take on escargot; the cheese on top was too much for me. Experimentation leads to discovery so hit and a miss. Staff was young and delightful. They were quick too. The ambiance was mod European-Russian inside. Cool. We sat outside on the deck. This is the place to me. A great mix of folks outside enjoying the sun. If I lived here this would be in my regular rotation.

Went with some friends last night-- our friends had been in before a few times and had recommended things in advance. We got flights of vodka and ordered our food. The restaurant was super crowded and the servers moved quickly. The pickles were wonderful, and the vodka inventive. I loved the cabbage rolls-- the stew they were in was delicious. My friends have said their favorite was the salmon, which is melt in your mouth and deliciously creamy. All in all, we had a great time.

I came here for one major reason: to finally try khachapuri (a bready boat filled with cheese). I was able to enjoy that at Moscow on the Hill, and so much more. We visited at 11am on a Sunday. We parked at a nearby park that, on a spring-like day, was full of families enjoying the playground. There is also a YMCA adjacent to the restaurant that has available parking that, during our visit, had a posted cost of $5; a sign at the entrance of the restaurant advised that guests inform them if they used the YMCA lot. We were the second people in the door that day, and the first to order. The only complaint I can make about our visit is that the service was incredibly slow, especially for an almost empty restaurant. We were never even asked if we wanted to order more drinks. There was about a 15-20 minute gap between our appetizers and the delivery of our entrees. The restaurant has a fantastic atmosphere. Lots of art, lamps, and heavy curtains. The food is really the star here. Everything we had was incredible. For our appetizers, we did khachapuri and fried pelmeni. The khachapuri lived up to all expectations--this dish is a must for anyone who loves hot bread and melted cheese! The pelmeni were great, too, different than any other dumplings I've had. My husband ordered the fried chicken sandwich. He found the meat perfectly cooked and moist, and really enjoyed the fries. I had the Kamchatka salad, which had perfectly cooked flaky salmon along with greens, green beans, potatoes, and a mélange of other flavors and textures, all made even better by a fantastic dressing. I've never had a salad quite like it! Really fantastic stuff, and it's a large serving, too. The only downside to that was that I was too full to order a dessert, but that was probably just as well, as the slowness of the meal meant we needed to leave, anyway. I would absolutely come here again to try more of the food.

The space is noisy, but still manages some intimacy and the ability to hold a conversation. The pickles and kraut are light and crisp. Everything beet was a hit at our table except the borscht, which was rated meh by everyone, not bad, just not interesting. The potato pancakes are really lovely, crisp with the creamiest interior. I could go on, but it really comes down to the worst you can expect is some dishes will be good but not outstanding, and most dishes will be very good if short of sublime. Oh, and get the pate. Seriously, it's pretty delightful.

Always was on my list to check out but now that I went I rwgretted not going earlier. It was bustling on a weeknight which was a good sign. Borscht soup was a delicious starter (recommend and my 16 year old loved it). I had the beef stroganoff which was very good. My 16 year old had a dumpling they enjoyed. I grew up with German food and considered this a more flavorful version but simillar in style. I will be going back can't wait to bring my partner and others. oh yeah, had a vodka flight very smooth and great starter.

One of my favorite places to hang I Saint Paul. Great food, really great cocktails, lovely porch, cozy interior- what's not to love! Get yourself an Uber sometime and do a flight of flavored vodka. And despite being a pescatarian/vegetarian, O can always find something on the menu. service is always helpful, food always tasty.

In the heart of St. Paul, Moscow on The Hill is a little bit of Russia transported to Minnesota. Decorated to look like the Czarist Empire, the food replicates the rich cuisine of this era. Everything tasted authentic, and we needed to loosen our belts because of the large portions. Tasting the dumplings, Beef Stroganoff, the cheese bread, and Chebourek, our favorite, we were exclaiming with pleasure. Service was lovely, personal and helpful with suggestions. Dozens of homemade vodkas are available, and I started purring after sampling six. Moscow on the Hill would be a hoot for a group of friends or colleagues. I wish there was one in Milwaukee, but I will return when I'm back in Minneapolis.
